UCHM Senior Program are funded, in part under a contract with the Louisville Metro Office of Resiliency and Community Services, and with funds from KIPDA, the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the 21 UCHM member churches, and private donations.
UCHM provides social, health and recreational opportunities for seniors in order to support the overall well being of senior citizens in the Louisville area. The Senior Program establishes important social connections, encourages physical activity and good nutrition, and provides stimulation:
- Meals on Wheels: Nutritious hot meals are delivered daily by volunteers to homebound individuals.
- Weekday Lunches: Hot meals are served at the UCHM senior center Monday through Friday from from 11:15 – 12:30pm.
- Visiting Nurse: Mary Ann Craycroft, RN from Holy Spirit is at UCHM the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. Blood Pressure checks and general health questions can be addressed.
- Recreation and Wellness: There are a variety of activities offered to seniors including: bingo, physical exercise, crafts, bridge, card parties, dancing, speakers, and entertainers.
