Opening: Community Engagement Coordinator

Through the AmeriCorps VISTA program, the Community Engagement Coordinator will strengthen the capacity of United Crescent Hill Ministries (UCHM) through volunteer management, fundraising, and community outreach in order to better serve and empower underserved families in the Louisville Metro area. United Crescent Hill Ministries, created and sustained by neighborhood communities of faith, in relationship with organizations,

individuals, and businesses, builds better community by serving our neighbors with programs, activities, and services that enrich their lives physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially. The Community Engagement Coordinator will build upon the accomplishments of previous VISTA members to oversee the volunteer program at UCHM and create much-needed awareness in the community about UCHM’s mission. Additionally, the Community Engagement Coordinator will support the agency through development initiatives such as identifying new funding opportunities coordinating and writing grant applications, and planning fundraising events.

Member Duties: The Community Engagement Coordinator will strengthen the capacity of United Crescent Hill Ministries (UCHM) through volunteer management, fundraising, and community outreach in order to better serve and empower underserved families in the Louisville Metro area. They will build upon the accomplishments of previous VISTA members to oversee the volunteer program at UCHM and create much-needed awareness in the community about UCHM’s mission. Additionally, the Community Engagement Coordinator will support the agency through development initiatives such as identifying new funding opportunities, coordinating and writing grant applications, and planning fundraising events.

– Write volunteer opportunity descriptions that target specific skills and qualifications and disseminate on website, newsletter, and social media accounts.

– Manage incoming volunteer application process including interviewing, conducting background check, and assigning volunteer tasks.

– Maintain volunteer training program and conduct volunteer orientation for new and ongoing volunteers.

– Develop and maintain volunteer database (as developed by Community Engagement Coordinator), including tracking volunteer hours.

– Act as lead for four UCHM volunteer appreciation events.

– Identify and attend new and ongoing outreach events in the Louisville area.

– Develop new partnerships with organizations and individuals in order to share the work of UCHM.

– Manage all social media accounts.

– Update UCHM website with up-to-date information regarding programs, volunteers, events, etc.

– Research potential funding opportunities for program development. Manage and update grants database.

– With the assistance of supervisor, write six grants for various projects in each of UCHM’s program areas: youth, seniors, and emergency assistance.

– Update and manage the UCHM donor database.

– Attend 15 outreach events and initiate communication with potential organizations and donors to solicit major gifts.

– Work with the Associate Director and Executive Director to plan and execute a minimum of three new fundraising events.
