Summer Camp Leader 

The Summer Camp Leader will provide educational programming during the 5-week United Learning summer camp. The 2022 United Learning Summer Camp takes place from May 31 – July 15 from 9:00am – 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. There will be no camp the week of July 20th. The position is for 6 weeks beginning May 23 and ending July 15th. Summer Camp Leaders will not work the week of June 6th or July 20th.  Summer Camp Leaders will work 8:30am – 4:30pm daily. The United Learning Summer Camp provides hands-in learning through fun and engaging educational activities for students in grades K-8. The Summer Camp Leaders will work with UCHM staff to implement the 2022 United Learning summer camp, including planning, facilitating, and leading educational and enrichment activities. The Summer Camp Leaders will be responsible for ensuring that camp policies are communicated to parents and students as well as followed by all summer camp volunteers and interns.

Job Duties:

  • Work with supervisor to develop, plan, and implement educational training materials for summer camp program.
  • Lead educational activities during summer camp.
  • Provide supervision and support during all on-site activities and field learning excursions during the 5-week camp.
  • Ensure camp participants have a fun and engaging experience.
  • Meet with UCHM staff once a week prior to the start of each camp week to organize and finalize plans for coming week.
  • Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences, and report concerns to Leadership.
  • Work with UCHM staff to administer monitoring components such as tracking attendance, facilitating pre and post-tests and evaluation survey.

Skill Requirements:

  • High school diploma required; College degree preferred.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work with children in a role model capacity.
  • Initiative, enthusiasm, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Passion for working with school-age children (K-8th grade)
  • Knowledge of camp curriculum development a plus.
  • Previous non-profit and/or education experience a plus.
  • Must pass a criminal background check 

Physical Requirements:

  • Actively participate with students for programming
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds

Job Type Full-time, temporary (6 weeks)
